Porterstown Bridge

Crossing both the Royal Canal and mainline railway, Porterstown Bridge provides an essential connection point between the centre of Blanchardstown and the area’s new residential developments.

Porterstown Bridge provides a vital link between Blanchardstown and the extensive development areas to the south of the Royal Canal. Creating a point of access for these new residential communities to essential local amenities, the seven-span bridge crosses both the Royal Canal and mainline railway.

Delivered by Castlethorn in 2003, the €7 million project involved continuous liaison with stakeholders Irish Rail and Waterways Ireland. The 146-metre finished bridge accommodates a two-lane carriageway, cycleway and pedestrian footpath, and connects the residents and businesses of this busy area of Dublin 15.
